Why shred? Businesses now have a legal and
ethical responsibility to keep sensitive customer and employee information from
falling into the wrong hands. You can no longer dispose of confidential
documents in the regular trash containers on the street. Proper disposal of
personal and confidential documents in a timely fashion will limit your
liability in litigation and will keep your proprietary information out of
competitor's hands.
TOP
What should I shred? We encourage you to shred
all paper leaving your business. It is the most certain way to protect your
organization from identity theft and corporate espionage. It also drastically
improves your ability to comply with the numerous laws and regulations covering
information security. While certainly not all-inclusive, the following list
includes several types of information that should be shredded:
- Banking information
- Social Security numbers
- Checks
- Credit card receipts
- Customer names & addresses
- Obsolete contracts
- Internal correspondence
- Proposals
- Proprietary information
- Loan information
|
- Payroll information
- Visitor logs
- Supplier information
- Medical records
- Insurance information
- Employee data
- Sales information
- Tax records
- Invoices
- Investment records

covered, our statement that records were destroyed as part of the normal course
of business and signatures and names of individuals supervising and witnessing
the destruction.

How often will you empty my container? As often
as you need it. Some offices need service weekly, some monthly. Some offices
only require once-a-year service. On-Site Information Destruction Inc. will
customize a schedule to fit your needs.
TOP
What if my container gets full before my next pick
up?No problem, just contact us and we can arrange a pick up. We can also
provide additional containers or adjust your schedule based on your volume.
TOP
Do I need to remove staples and paper clips?No;
you may include any color or type of paper as well as paper clips, staples,
rubber bands, labels and file tabs. Our machines will process all fasteners so
there is no need to remove them.
TOP
What happens to our paper after you shred it? To
help protect the environment all shredded material is baled and recycled. We
then ship to paper mills where the material is re-pulped and processed into
tissue paper.
TOP
Do you do background checks on your employees? We
have the most stringent hiring policy in the industry, seeking and employing
individuals with the highest level of integrity and competency among our
operations, driver/shred technicians, and customer service employees. We
require our employees to participate in drug testing upon hire and to submit to
random drug testing during the term of their employment. Also, we do extensive
background checks on every employee. All employees are bonded, uniformed, and
wear identification badges.
TOP
I have a lot of paper to shred but it will only be a
one time deal. Can you handle that?We can handle one time purges in the
same manner as a scheduled pick up. Just contact us with an estimate or we can
have one of our staff come out and evaluate your volume and cost.
TOP
We have a shredder in our office. Can you save us
time and money over doing it ourselves? Of course you can always do your
own shredding, but it is not nearly as secure or economical, especially if
other employees are involved. It might take you days to shred what we can shred
in minutes. When you consider the noise, the dust, the shredder overheating and
jamming, we can save you time and money.
TOP
We recycle our paper now. Why use a shredding
service? Recycling companies are not equipped to provide security. From a
risk management perspective, once your confidential material leaves your
possession, it is open to anyone to use and abuse. The best acceptable way of
discarding your confidential paperwork is using a method that ensures complete
destruction.
TOP
How much do you charge? The price varies from
client to client and is based on volume. It's best to contact us to schedule a time so we can do an
assessment. From the assessment we will be able to provide you with a quote.
TOP
How safe and reliable is your service? We provide
the highest level of security. We are a certified member of NAID (National
Association of Information Destruction). All of our employees undergo a strict
background check and we perform random testing of all personnel. Our drivers
wear company uniforms and always display a picture ID.
TOP
Can I pick my own schedule?Unfortunately no. We
follow routes to be the most economical for us and you. We schedule jobs for
certain days in certain cities according to our routes.
